Writing style controls how the draft reads, separately from what the template asks for.
Set your style
Go to Settings → Writing style:
- Verbosity: Concise, Balanced or Detailed.
- Format: Paragraphs or Bullets.
- Note language: the language the draft is written in.
- Instructions: short preferences in your own words, such as "Use 'patient reports' rather than 'patient states'" or "Write the plan as numbered items".
Your style applies to every draft you prepare unless something more specific overrides it.
Where a style can apply
A style can be saved for different scopes: you, you with one template, one patient, one patient with one template, a single visit, a template for everyone, or the whole practice. The more specific setting wins, so a style saved for one visit overrides your personal style, and your personal style overrides the practice default.
Practice-wide and template-wide styles need management permission. The style used for a note is pinned when it is signed, so a later change never alters a signed note.
Learn this style from your edits
If you often turn the draft's paragraphs into bullets, or the reverse, Terra can learn that:
- Save your edited note.
- In the visit editor, choose Learn this style.
- Pick the earlier revision to compare with. Terra checks that only formatting changed, not words, numbers or order.
- Review the example and choose where to apply it, for example "Me with this template".
- Confirm.
Terra only learns the paragraphs-or-bullets choice this way. It never infers verbosity, language, findings, doses or anything clinical from your edits, and it uses no AI credits.
